Although we loved almost every part of our two day stay at this hotel (our second time at this hotel), we were disappointed by the apparently "new" rules of not allowing room check-in until 4pm. After a long drive to the area and assumption of a 3pm check-in, the staff made us wait until 4pm to get our room keys. When she had me sign the credit card form, it clearly states that check-in is 3pm and check out is 11am? I pointed this out to her and she was somewhat suprised that I called them out on this. She then simply said that the rules had changed.Oh yeah...Great breakfast included!

  • A balanced review: the staff compensate for building needs

My family and I (3 kids and my spouse) stayed here for four nights during the 2nd weekend of May, 2010. THE GOOD: extraordinary service; warm, helpful, and responsive staff; incredible followup after needs were expressed; daily happy hour (free drinks, soft drinks and snacks daily from 5:30-7:30); hot, made-to-order breakfast daily; lproximity to airport and downtown; the jungly atrium, all new furnishings; the price; secure, limited access floors. NEEDED WORK: some of the decor was at best dated (and in some cases "tired"); our balcony door was nearly rusted shut; our bathroom drain needed unplugging twice; the temperature system for the room is limited to either heating or cooling. When we stayed, they had already switched to cooling mode - heating the room was not an option. On a cold night, they offered us blankets and space heaters if we wanted them. Only one of the two hot tubs would bubble; the sauna was also not in operation. Parking is $* per night; the suites have either a king or two full size beds - queen is not an option. In spite of naming and detailing some rather graphic faults, my family all agreed that we would stay there again. The staff, the service, the food!, and the location outweigh the concerns we had with the building. My wfie reminds me that we tend to have high expectations. She also reminds me that there were no additional charges for 3 kids....we saved a bundle on the breakfasts. The top floors are 7-9: these are secured floors with limited (keyed) access - nice when you have small kids to consider. The friendliness, customer service, and constant cleaning of everything made this location a great place to stay. We recommend it.

The room was comfortable and the breakfast was very good- much better than anticipated from a hotel. We will be staying here again in March to start our family vaction. We called down to the front desk for tooth paste and a tooth brush. When the attendance came up they told us that they were all out of tooth paste. (not a huge deal just a minor inconvenience) 20 minutes later there was a knock at our door...the manager had gone to the store and bought tooth paste for us!!! That is incredible service in my book. We certainly didn't expect that sort of service.

I have been staying at Embassy Suites since about 1980. They are the best value out there for both business and vacation travel. The staff at this Embassy were excellent. My only slightly negative comment about this specific property is that it is getting old and needs a makeover. It is just starting to feel "tacky". Next time I go to S.F., I''d perfer to stay at the "Airport Embassy" in South San Francisco. The weather isn't as good as Burlingame, but the facility is newer.
